Congratulations on making the decision to consider a move the paradise that is Australasia. We might be biased but we think it’s the best place in the world!

  1. Graduated with a medical degree from either an Irish or UK university
  2. One year post-graduate experience
  3. Full registration with IMC or GMC

AUSTRALIA

It is not such a simple process to gain registration in Australia as it is in New Zealand. In Australia you need to be registered with the Medical Council or Board in the state in which you intend to work.

Basically, for UK or Irish graduates there are two ways to gain registration in Australia:

  1. You can sit the Australian Medical Council (AMC)exams and complete a period of supervised practice
  2. Overseas trained doctors who have not passed the AMC exams can apply for positions in an Area of Need. Once a position has been confirmed the doctor can apply for non-general registration with the relevant Medical Council or Board. This type of registration is tied to the particular position and hospital, and each state has a slightly different name and application process for this type of registration.

You can visit the website of the AMC for more options or email us at ukdoctors@medrecruit.com.
