LOCUMING IN AUSTRALASIA FOR UK AND IRISH DOCTORS
Locuming is a fantastic way to earn more money, to have more flexibility and to have more travel in your medical career.
Because New Zealand and Australia are both short of doctors, the hospitals are turning to long-term locums to meet their needs. This means doctors are in a brilliant position to be able to pick and choose what they do, where they work and how much they earn.
Locuming is great way to see New Zealand and Australia, all while the hospitals pay for your travel and accommodation!
WHEN CAN I LOCUM
To locum you need general registration. When you arrive you will have provisional registration in New Zealand and conditional registration in Australia. If you have a medical degree from the UK or Ireland you will generally have provisional registration for 6 months in New Zealand and 1 year in Australia. If your degree is from outside the UK or Ireland you’ll have provisional registration for one year. You will then gain general registration meaning you can locum.
So get over here, find your feet with a permanent job for 6 months or a year then tap into the awesome opportunity that locuming in Australasia will offer you.
